Together they embark on a perilous journey, compelled by powerful forces—and even more powerful feelings. We can recognize that what a character says is cryptic and important without being told so. View all 7 comments. My books are set in the real world, not an invented secondary world—their fantasy element lies in the interaction of the human characters with the Otherworld, which takes whatever form fits the common beliefs of their time and culture. Families support each other and most certainly do not sacrifice their own members or let them suffer and perish.
I love those strong, silent warrior types. Juliet now lives in a hundred-year-old cottage near the river in Perth, Western Australia, where she writes full-time. In spite of the above, I did enjoy the Heir to Sevenwates and significantly more than its two predecessors. The problem is, only Clodagh can see it for what it is—a changeling.
If I could I’d give the whole series 6 stars. To reclaim her newborn brother, Clodagh must enter the shadowy Otherworld and confront the powerful prince who rules there? I sevenwaterw to read this book because i if the others but this one never caught me in the same way. Heir to Sevenwaters [Feb 3, ] 43 34 Feb 07, Another disappointment, like me and Eilis.
Clodagh’s twin is being wed to a young nobleman, and Sevenwaters is filled with visitors, including the handsome Aidan, and his best friend and foster-brother, Cathal Ka-hallboth young men in her cousin’s retinue.

Instead, I got half of a novel about her, and half of a novel hekr her fawning over Cathal. While you can read the story independently, you might feel overburdened with references and innuendoes to events that had occurred previously and are not always explained at length.
The summary and its focus on how that shipwrecked guy whose name currently escapes me might be her soulmate which, I’m sorry, is a word hejr should never be used in a non-Harlequin novel; it’s far too cheesy and it prevents me from taking the book seriously.
That’s not to suggest the Sevenwaters series is the above, it’s so much more.
Nov 24, Keertana rated it it was amazing Shelves: We see his sarcastic tongue emerge and his ominous warnings about his own friend cause us to doubt his character. That drives me crazy. And his rapier wit and reliance on sarcasm set him apart from virtually every other male in the series even if his archetype is common in YA books — men who seem to be made of stone, men who are either angsting and fretting all the time or confessing hdir love for a woman.
I give this book 3 stars simply because I can’t bring myself to give it a lower score.
Heir to Sevenwaters : Juliet Marillier :
Juliet is the author of twenty historical fantasy novels for adults and young adults, as well as a book of short fiction. Clodagh has no other options; she must take ehir help she can get—and deep down, she can tell that Cathal is not behind the kidnapping. But she didn’t have the same sense of confidence that the three previous women had.
I adore the mythological aspect of these stories, and how Marillier weaves fairytale and drama together so expertly. Families stick together against the external dangers, against the ills, against the troubles.

Of course, as in the previous books, the heroine is called upon to overcome her weaknesses and find the courage to be able to help the good to prevail and earn her own happiness next to her beloved.
Sep 15, Jo rated it it was amazing Shelves: In that regard, she is typical of the female hero. Yet upon her return, she finds herself in the middle of a strange struggle, the heart of which lies in the Otherworld.
This was not quite as good as the books of the original trilogy, but that’s such a high standard to meet. Child of the Prophecy 5. Ciaran performs the wedding, the curse is broken, and Conri returns to human form.
